Sales Tax

SALES TAX APPLICATION

The US Sales Tax structure requires companies, including Omega, to charge and collect the applicable sales tax on sales of taxable items in all states in which jurisdictions can confer the requisite sales tax nexus upon sellers. Sales tax nexus can be based on physical presence or economic sales exceeding certain thresholds specific to each jurisdiction.

TAXABILITY

Taxability of Sales, is almost always taxable as determined based on the shipment’s destination or origin, depending on the state and local tax rules and regulations. Shipping and handling charges may also be taxable depending on the jurisdiction. If taxable and the underlying items are taxable, these shipping and handling expenses are generally considered to be part of the “sales price” and Omega is generally required to collect and remit tax on the shipping and handling charges.

CONCLUSION

Where Omega has the requisite sales tax nexus and is selling items, Omega is required to collect and remit sales tax unless our customers provide our team with the correct exemption certificate, direct pay permit, or other similar documentation establishing the exempt nature of the transaction. Appropriate charges will be added to your order total and displayed for your review prior to checkout. Tax displayed may change if you decide to update your shipping address. While Omega is able to process orders as tax exempt for qualifying entities, currently there is not an option to submit an order online with a tax exemption form. Please contact Customer Service at (866) 634-8927 to submit your tax exemption form.
